Every year February 28, is celebrated as National Science Day to commemorate discovery of the ‘Raman Effect’, which led Indian scientist Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman or CV Raman winning the Noble Prize in Physics in 1930. The Society of Young Biomedical Scientists, India has taken the initiative to celebrate National Science Day as National Science Festival in association with SMS Medical College and RUHS College of Medical Sciences, Jaipur Rajasthan.

The National Science Day was initiated by Department of Science and Technology to trigger science popularization activities throughout the country. The activities includeLectures, Science Quiz, Idea of Young India (Science & Technology),Science Exhibition, Extempore speech, Debate&Run for Science which will be organized and revolve around the central theme. Popularization awards will be awarded for recognizing outstanding efforts in the area of science communication and popularization. The central theme of National Science Day 2023 will be given by DST annually.
